I'd argue that 94 team was the best 6-5 team in college football history. Certainly has to be in the team photo. 5 losses by a combined 22 points (IIRC). Tepper just didn't coach winning ball. His D was great but got super conservative late in games & the other team always seemed to drive on them late. The talent far exceeded the coaching acumen that season.
when I lived in Champaign...had the in and was able to go to the night b4 spring game former player get togethers for many years....got to know several of those guys on the 94' team and they were just as disappointed/still wondering why? they didn't win more as you r/were....talk to five different players get five different reasons why......at least we got a blowout win over Iowa that season!
