A buddy and I ended up crashing an Illini tailgate party before the '08 Rose Bowl. Some former players were there, including Dwight Beverly, who I had a great chat with. It was just off the stadium entrance (300 or so yards down the valley, front of the stadium). Would that have been the Mike White party? I don't recall seeing him there. Were you there?
was there for a little while....Mike Weingrad, Butkus', Trudeau, Willaims brothers, Piel, Sam Ellsworth, Dave Wilson, Jackie Johnson, Sebring, Tagart, Giddings, Chris White.....bunch of former players at that time living out in Orange County FWIW....bet over 100 made it in and out of that tailgate and of course Eddy Schwartz was there...White's long time DOFO guy that literally knew where all the bodies were buried White era....Schwartz famous for hitting on the chancellor's wife at a University party, then being asked to leave cause he was pissing off the diving board into the pool when they had a president's house/party there.
With all due respect, I HIGHLY doubt that the B1G would choose an AD from one of the member schools... The other schools would NEVER trust that AD to NOT be favoring their own....
oh sure that's true.....just pointing out how a couple of the 'grandpa media' in CU trying their best speculation to get Whitman's name out there as a candidate, some boosters get antsy knee jerk reaction.
Don't misunderstand... I think it would be a compliment for Josh, but I only meant that the other member schools would probably NEVER accept an AD from their conference.... Just as I wouldn't expect Illinois to fully trust the AD from scUM or the AD from tOSU to be fully impartial in their decisions, wouldn't expect scUM to trust Josh ... JMHO...
